Examples of Modernism

One of the major themes of modernism is architecture. The Empire State building is the tallest building in the world. In pre-modernism times, buildings probably would not even reach one-fourth the height of the Empire State Building. Because of new ideas, buildings like the Empire State Building can even touch the skies.

Another theme of modernism is artwork. Arguably known as one of the greatest painters of all time, Picasso created many pieces of artwork with a style that nobody has ever seen before. This is just one of his examples, using oddly shaped figures to shape the human body instead of using the traditional round curves to portray the human body.

Dance is also another theme in modernism. The norm for pre-modernism times for dancing was the slow type of dancing with synchronized movements. However, modernism created new dancing styles, such as the tango, that has fast movements and has an irregular beat system that the people dance to.

Long time ago, females were only allowed to wear skirts and "non-male" clothing. Modernism changed the style of women, mostly wearing jeans instead of skirts. Taking a further step, there is now a blend of the two, jean skirts. Modernism has innovated the style of clothing and is still changing today.
